Young Philly indie-dance-rock group Coup Couroux first began attracting attention after winning the Beta Hi-Fi Festival last fall. The band is comprised of four longtime musicians; bassist Hyatt Morrill has been playing gigs in bars with his father’s band since he was 15, singer/guitarist Simon Lowe is totally self-taught, drummer Nate Lackey is a classically trained pianist, and keyboardist Tyler Hayduk plays with several side projects, including The Classic Hunt. The group has just finished recording their first EP, which features three tracks that were produced by DJ Afro of Grammy-nominated Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles.

Tonight, August 4th, Coup Couroux will hold a release party and performance for their new EP at Room VII at Roosevelt’s Room VII (23rd & Walnut). Opening the show will be NJ duo Boy With Robot, and an electro/disco/moombahton set from local female DJs Stab & Grab will close out the night. The 21+ event begins at 9 p.m. and costs $3; more information can be found here.
