Thurston Moore has been a music scene fixture for nearly 30 years. You might think that, at 53, the former Sonic Youth guitarist would be thinking about retirement. But you’d be wrong. Moore returned yet again this spring with the Beck-produced Demolished Thoughts, a thoughtful, meandering album that takes his talents in a new (and no less interesting) direction. Though Moore’s reputation was built on experimental rock, Demolished Thoughts is a tight succession of folksy acoustic songs, full of harps, violins and 12-string guitars. Its attention to detail and melodic flourishes will win Moore new fans. Thurston Moore plays with Meg Baird at 8 p.m. at First Unitarian Church; tckets to the all-ages show are $15–$17.
