Watch the new video for “A Voice in the Night” by Philly’s The Chairman Dances (playing Kungfu Necktie tomorrow)
Ambitious Philly rock band The Chairman Dances have graduated from indie songwriters to dramatic storytellers on their latest release, A Promise. Self-released to bandcamp this week, the album follows narrative arc that is, in the band’s own words, “centered around two fictional married couples: one at the start of their relationship, the other at the end.” Setting the tone is music is reminiscent of Destroyer in its lush orchestrations; of The Pernice Brothers in its crisp and melodic vocals; and of Bodies of Water in its epic fearlessness. Watch the video for “A Voice in the Night” above, stream the album below, and catch the release show this Friday at Kungfu Necktie. The Chairman Dances plays Kungfu Necktie with The Mendels and The Quelle Source on Friday May 25 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the 21+ show are $8.
