Over the past year, we’ve become bigger and bigger fans of Dan Svizeny’s project, Cough Cool. He refers to his music as pop, but no one can ignore the lo-fi experimental vibe that the music brings to your ears. The fuzzy overtones and mysterious bridges resonate within you, leaving you curious and perplexed. His music envisions an empty room with closed eyes, swaying to the sound of those hazy, dreamy chords and the deep, delicate vocals. Some songs of his like “Stolen,” the Philly sports tribute that we showcased in May of last year, is definitely cooler and softer than his usual work; it must be his devoted passion for Phillies sports. But his new compilation “Rarities” off Bathetic Records is a collection of songs CC has created from 2009-2012. Take a listen to his first release from the album, “One Last Thing” below. It is a tune that definitely exaggerates the edgier side of his work.
