Paradise of Bachelors is a new specialty record label run by Philadelphia’s Chris Smith (aka DJ Mental Feelings) and his buddy Brendan Greaves, who hails from North Carolina; this year, they’re ramping up their catalog with reissues of overlooked psychedelic and folk nuggets, beginning today with the eponymous 1969 long-player from Plant and See, a swamp boogie group led by the late Willie French Lowery. Check out a stream of the album below; its release party is tonight at Johnny Brenda’s, where Smith and a crew of special guests will DJ downstairs “until quittin’ time.” Check back to The Key later this summer for a label profile on Smith, Greaves and Paradise of Bachelors.
