During their set at Johnny Brenda’s on Friday, City Rain dropped an unexpected and enjoyable big-beat cover of Rick Springfield’s 80s pop classic “Jesse’s Girl” woven into their own song “Big Boys Do Cry” – a number from their new Montage EP. Turns out this wasn’t a complete act of spontaneity, but instead a recreation of something already in the works.
