Okay, so it’s not “everything” in the literal sense, but this new video from Philly rapper Boy Pierce does a respectable job delivering what it promises. It follows Pierce into Center City’s Lorelei Recording Studio, where he pops on a pair of cans and starts flowing to a beat. His nerdy / nasal King Ad-Rock vocal style might sound a bit corny at the outset – I’ll admit, I almost switched it off – but wait, he’s just getting warmed up. Once a loop of U2’s “Mysterious Ways” kicks it, you’ll be hooked, as I was. The groove is locked in, and Pierce’s delivery is now confident, tight and on point as he continues to rap across Billy Joel deep cuts, iconic video game scores, and other bits of hiphop trivia.
