Folkadelphia Session: Moon Palace
You may not be familiar with Moon Palace yet, but I’m sure that you’ll be familiar with the feeling that the music might trigger in you. You know that feeling, the one that often produces chills, that causes a swells of excitement, that demands focused listening, forcing you to place shutters on the rest of the world of sound around you for a short spell. I feel it right now, playing back the tracks over my speakers. Christopher Bohn, principal member and songwriter for Moon Palace, seems to craft songs that feel more like emotional landscapes – somehow both insular and expansive. It is music that is to be experienced.
Christopher previously stopped by Folkadelphia Radio for a solo session in October of last year. He impressed us with his humble personality and his strong vocals and songwriting, so much so that we invited him back for an encore session, this time with a full band, emulating the impression that his recent eponymous full length left with us. For this in-studio session, Bohn is joined by a stellar group of Philadelphia musicians- Brad Hinton (on lap steel and electric guitar), Bethany Brooks (on keyboard), and Jeff Orlowski (on drums). Together, these musicians flesh out Bohn’s arrangements and add quite a sonic depth to the performance. The final result is a set of songs charged with passion and skillful playing.
While Moon Palace does not currently have any live appearances scheduled, we hope that this in-studio session offering will tide you over until you can catch the band in person. Additionally, until the end of March, you can snag both of Bohn’s records for a low-low price over on his Bandcamp.
