Stream Akron / Family’s new Sub Verses LP on Pitchfork (playing Johnny Brenda’s on Thursday)

Pitchfork has got their hands on Akron / Family‘s new album Sub Verses and they’re currently streaming it on Pitchfork Advance ahead of the record’s April 30th release via Dead Oceans.  From a band that has altered its sound pretty significantly over their previous six releases, Sub Verses continues in the experimental folk vein of 2011’s Akron/Family II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT with ten tracks that run the gamut of suspensfully disturbing (“Sometimes I”) to melodically exquisite (“Until the Morning”) and includes a whole lot of heavy across the board.  Tickets and information for their 21+ show at Johnny Brenda’s on Thursday with Chris Forsyth and M Geddes Gengras can be found here.  Stream Sub Verses in full here and watch Akron / Family’s new video for “Until the Morning” below.
