Listen to Man Man’s new “Head On,” find out about their forthcoming On Oni Pond
Philly avant rockers Man Man are gearing up for the release of their latest record, On Oni Pond, and it’s possibly their poppiest offering to date. If you’ve heard the track “Loot My Body” in rotation on XPN, you know it’s pretty hard to get it unstuck from your head. Today, the band announced the details of the record via Pitchfork and premiered the track “Head On,” which mixes the delicate plucking of a string section (producer Mike Mogis’ specialty) and a swinging, doo-wop vibe. Or as the band prefers to think of it, “doom wop.” Says singer Ryan “Honus Honus” Kattner:
This is a strange and beautiful record but it’s also head on and fearless. It’s not a record that’s going to flirt with you, this is a record that’s asking you out. If you get into bed with us there’s going to be a relationship.
On Oni Pond is out on September 10th via Anti Records, and we have it on pretty good authority that you’ll be seeing some great local performances from them a little later on this summer. Below, check out the lyric video for “Head On.”
