Get to know Philly instrumental hip-hop duo BmbuWEST

A recent addition to the collective of Synesthesia Records, BmbuWEST is a hip-hop production duo from Philadelphia. Graduates of Drexel’s Music Industry program, founders Cory “Fortune West” Wilson and John “Bmbu” Alsace have since joined forces to drop some beautifully crafted tracks. The group produces a monthly instrumental beat tape series — each addition to the sequence is released on the first Wednesday of each month. Although certainly new to the scene, BmbuWEST offers subtle and smooth beats and layers grooves wisely with choice vocal samples. While defined primarily as instrumental hip-hop creators, the duo experiments with jazz and R&B, which adds an additional sophistication to their work.
