Get psyched for XPoNential 2013 by revisiting past performances from Dr. Dog, Dawes, and more
With the XPoNential Music Festival mere days away, what better way to get in the mood than by checking out some stellar perfomances from XPo-Fests past? While there’s certainly a long list of exciting, up-and-coming new artists playing this year, it’s always nice to kick back with some old favorites. Below check out some perfomances from years past by XPoNential vets Dr. Dog, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Dawes and The Lumineers!
This year marks the fourth appearance at the XPoNential Music Festival from Philly favorites Dr. Dog. They opened the River Stage in 2008, on the heels of their recently-released Fate, they co-headlined in 2010 after Shame, Shame dropped, and they performed the SBC stage last year with Wilco and The Avett Brothers. Listen to their 2010 set here (via the WXPN media player), and watch a video of “I Only Wear Blue” shot by WHYY below.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros first appeared at XPoFest in 2010 and brought with them one of the most massive and enthusiastic crowds we’ve seen to date. Watch a performance of “Home” below and listen to their set here.
We caught Dawes fever early, with Taylor Hawkins and his bandmates making their first appearance in 2010, with a return last year and this year. Listen to the band’s XPoFest debut in 2010 here, and watch their performance of “Fire Away” from that show below.
Last year, before most people knew who they were, The Lumineers played an early Friday evening set on the XPoNential Festival Marina Stage. This year they return to headline the SBC stage on Saturday night. The seats have been sold out for months, but lawn tickets are still available. Watch a video of “Flowers In Your Hair” and “Ho Hey” below, and listen to their set in its entirety here
