Author and former Inquirer music critic Tom Moon is bringing his project Ensemble Novo to World Cafe Live tonight. The six-piece band plays Brazilian-inspired music, and released their album Blue Night on July 16th. Check out a performance/music video of the band playing “Blue Night.” Tickets and information can be found here.

Groovy, heavy rock-meets-reggae outfit Lionize will be playing Milkboy tonight. Interesting genre combination, yes, but it works. The band hints on their Facebook that this show is perhaps a chance to get a sneak peak at their new material (the band’s last album, Super Czar and the Vulture, was released in 2011). You can find tickets and more information here. Meanwhile, check out the band’s music video for “Dr. Livingston”

Philly pop-punk, surfy, indie rock outfit Amanda X are playing Kung Fu Necktie tonight. The all-girl trio released their Ruin the Moment EP last year  – check out a video of them performing one of their tracks, “Golden West,” at Johnny Brenda’s in July. Amanda X will be joined on the bill by Shape Breaker, Demonstrative Girls, and Manors. More information can be found here.
