The Key’s Week of Folk: Watch The Stray Birds perform “Might Rain” along the Delaware River care of Out of Town Films
The Key’s Week of Folk is our series of interviews, reviews, artist spotlights, playlistings and general ephemera to get you ready for the 52nd Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival, happening August 16th to August 18th at Old Pool Farm in Schwenksville. This installment brings you a performance video from one of the artists on the bill shot at our own XPoNential Music Festival.
Something about The Stray Birds and festivals just feels right. The airy arrangements that glide across outdoor setting, the warm singalong vibes. This weekend, they’ll perform at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, bringing their close harmonies and bluegrass flair to the Friday afternoon main stage crowd. We know they’ll win them over, since their set was impressive when they opened the Saturday show at XPoNential Music Festival last month. After they stepped offstage, the Lancaster three-piece met up with the Out of Town Films for a stroll along the Delaware Waterfront and a performance of their new song “Might Rain.” On the downside, the song somewhat presaged the massive downpour that waterlogged XPoNential late on Sunday afternoon; here’s hoping it’s not a prediction of climate conditions this weekend at the Old Pool Farm.
