We heard a new Scott song a few weeks back; now its time for a new Toby song. Today, Philly’s Dr. Dog premiered a new track called “Broken Heart” via Stereogum, and singer-bassist Toby Leaman takes the lead this time around. The second track on the band’s new LP B-Room, out October 1st on Anti- Records, it hits on the album’s overarching themes: love and uncertainty. “Freedom from love,” Leaman sings on the rousing refrain, “freedom from the heartache.” Paired with the shuffling drumbeat and sublimely layered instrumentation, it’s the song that launches the album into orbit, and its lyric video is pretty fun too – a quirky montage of public domain footage from amusement parks and county fairs.
