The Austin, Texas based songwriter and singer Shakey Graves works in a lo-fi folk music way. He’s a rich storyteller, a flat picking acoustic guitar player, stomps on a suitcase for a drum, has a whiskey soaked voice and nods to the blues. Graves’ real name is Alejandro Rose-Garcia, brings fresh ideas and energy to the new traditional music scene, and like The Avett Brothers, the Felice Brothers, and JD McPherson, he’s an engaging live performer.
