Desoto Jones release “Room to Move” off EP due out early in 2014 (playing MilkBoy 2/14)
Local alt-rock group Desoto Jones just released a new track called “Room to Move,” which you can stream below via Bandcamp. This is the first new tune from Desoto Jones since their last full length album ShapeShifter was released back in October 2012, and it is full of thoughtful lyrics and true to the band’s contemporary grunge-influenced sound.
The track lacks the speed found on earlier songs like “Tether,” but makes up for sonically with captivating guitar work and a memorable hook. The vocals sound notably excellent, between the gritty deliveries of lines like “Everywhere I go there’s a little less room to move / I’ve seen it all, It’s nothing new” and the softer melodies that begin the song. Keep an eye out for an upcoming EP from Desoto Jones, due out in early 2014.
Catch an opening set from Desoto Jones at the MilkBoy on February 14th, get tickets here. Headlining will be Deaf Havana, with support from Born Cages and Modern Suits (21+, $10).
