Stream John the Conqueror’s hard-hitting new record The Good Life
Local blues-rock trio John the Conqueror have unveiled their new record via CMJ. The Good Life is a fun-loving and hard-rocking follow up to the band’s 2012 self-titled debut, out today through Alive Naturalsound Records.
A retrospective look at lead-singer Pierre Moore’s life from his Mississippi childhood to his move to Philadelphia, the album works well-crafted anecdotes through the veins of focused blues and rock instrumentation. Seamlessly incorporating a cover of Randy Newman’s “Let’s Burn Down the Cornfield,” the subjects of the record’s ten original tracks aren’t always uplifting or directly relatable, but they are steeped in the realities of life and overcoming obstacles, and that’s what the blues are all about.
