Indie rock band The Weaks released their full length debut EP The World Is A Terrible Place and I Hate Myself and Want to Die via Lame-O Records. Though the band itself might be new, the duo of Evan Bernard and Chris Baglivo were actually a part of long-running Philly indiepop collective Dangerous Ponies. Last month, The Weaks did a great Key Studio Session. They recently played for the Sounds for Sustainability showcase. Everything about the band is very rock and roll, including the title of the EP which is a reference to both Nirvana’s track on the 1993 compilation The Beavis and Butthead Experience and the punk scene faves The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die. As an accompainment to the album, the duo gave away hot sauce. In an interview with Modern Vinyl, Evan Bernard compared the album to the hot sauce, saying that both are “painfully hot to most.” The Weaks will be playing with Marge and Make Overs at the Bourbon and Branch Thursday July 10th.
