Ginger Coyle is one of those wildcard performers who continually exceeds expectations.  Opening day three at the XPoNential Music Festival, the New Jersey native was all smiles and put on a stellar show of uplifting, contemporary pop songs from her recent Homeward Bound LP and an upcoming release.  Joined by a band that included a saxophone / flute player, Coyle’s songs about love, happiness and overcoming obstacles were simultaneously powerful and easygoing.

As she ran through songs like the socially conscious “Let It Burn,” Homeward Bound single “The Big Picture” and new, reggae inspired “Rise Up,” Coyle’s vocals fluttered effortlessly from old-school, sassy Amy Winehouse to delicate, sultry Melody Gardot.  The crowd welcomed her with open arms and she paid tribute to her path as a musician by performing the first song ever played on XPN by Helen Leicht, “Silver Lining.”  Check out photos and the set list below, and listen back to the audio here (via the WXPN media player).
