PREMIERE: Lancaster's Douglas Thomas goes elegantly inward on "Amphibious" - WXPN | Vinyl At Heart

A sparse, gentle piano, and cautious voice are how we are introduced to Douglas Thomas on his new track, “Amphibious”.  Budding from the musical groundwork is a lush string section that transitions from playful to driving and back again. When Thomas sings, “It’s a little bit lonely to be everywhere,” you can hear the uncertainty in his gossamer tone. By the chorus the previously restrained instrumentals fully bloom, finding Thomas struggling with his own identity, pleading for understanding. The song lands softly, like a falling feather, waiting for the next gust of wind to take it away.

This is the first single from Douglas Thomas’ second album Gone To Seed, which is currently slated for a September 30th release date.  In anticipation of the new album, Thomas and friends are going to hit the road, including a stop here in Philadelphia, at The Fire on August 14th, as well as a stop in Lancaster, Douglas’ home away from home, for Music Friday on August 15th at the Chameleon Club.  While Thomas continues to put the finishing touches on the album, you should consider contributing to his Kickstarter, and get some sweet goodies in the process. Below, you can check out a live video of Douglas performing his new single in the beautiful Barshinger Hall, in Lancaster, PA.
