Watch Commonwealth Choir’s new “Along the Peak” performed at The TLA
On Friday night, Philly rockers Commonwealth Choir performed at The TLA on South Street on the seven-artist lineup of the Bands in the Backyard Summer Sounds showcase. The band’s well-received EP Shirtless is coming up on a year old, meaning they’ve been working more and more unreleased material into their setlist of late, including from their XPoNential Music Festival set last month to their performance on Friday night.
One of those songs that showed up both places is “Along the Peak,” a jagged rocker with a fierce kickdrum stomp and a healthy dose of tambourine by the Choir’s multi-instrumentalist and hype man William Chamuris. In this video, shot by the folks at Really Gud Videos, we get a fine treatment of the song in black and white. Chamuris and frontman Davis Jameson Howley are a ton of energy – listen to Howley’s pre-solo scream at 2:33 – and even though the camera mic audio isn’t ideal, man those guitars sound huge. Check out the video below.
Commonwealth Choir doesn’t have any performances on the concert calendar at the moment, which is freaking astonishing considering how hard these dudes usually gig, but in the meantime you can check out their XPoNential set here and get more information about the next installment of their Philly Tapes Philly series on Thursday night at Ortlieb’s.
UPDATE: The band actually juuuust announced two new shows. This Friday, August 22nd, they’ll play Ortlieb’s opening for Vinnie Caruana of The Movielife and I Am The Avalanche (info here), and on October 17th, they play MilkBoy with Caveman and Roadkill Ghost Choir (info here).
