Marian Hill’s new “Got It” will get stuck in your head in the best way
When they played last month’s Communion Philly show at Underground Arts, Philly electronic pop duo Marian Hill unveiled some of its first new material since releasing the excellent Play EP last winter. One of the songs, “Got It,” featured singer Samantha Gongol delivering a soulful hook with an infectious rise and fall reminiscent of Fiona Apple’s “Every Single Night.” Today the studio version emerged on the internet via Soundcloud, and it sounds outstanding. Played to suave electronic cuts and a sax slipping in and out of the shadows, it shows Marian Hill constantly refining their craft with increasingly more melody and texture, and might just be the bands catchiest song in a string of catchy songs. “Got It” will be the a-side to a 7″ the band is releasing on December 2nd; you can pre-order it here, and if you happen to be in New York for CMJ next week, catch the band on Thursday the 23rd at the Communion showcase at Glasslands.
