Purling Hiss share “weird and obscure” playlist with Entertainment Weekly
Local fuzz rockers Purling Hiss dropped their new record Weirdon last month and celebrated by curating an 8-track playlist for Entertainment Weekly. Describing the songs as having “a gritty lo fi/VHS aesthetic,” frontman Mike Polizze dipped into some of the bands and musicians he might credit with shaping the Purling Hiss motif. Weirdon follows the band’s 2013 label debut Water on Mars and was released through Drag City.
The playlist mixes locals with out-of-towners, rockers with anti-rockers and an eye towards the unconventional with the inclusion of a WWE wrestler theme song courtesy of Dude Love.
