Harrisburg’s Mazon is ready to make his mark in the Philly hip-hop scene
Being from Harrisburg, Mazon might feel like a bit of an outcast in the Philly hip-hop scene. But with an ear for sharp hooks and a mind that drops truly jaw-dropping lyrics, this MC has a talent and skill that will match the city’s best.
With lines like “Same old book, just a different page / Brand new chapter / like we some brand new Kappas / Somebody give me the que / Grammys give me a few” in his track “The Rise,” there’s no reason to question Mazon’s lyrical ability. He also knows how to choose beats that have the power to keep a listener’s attention, amplified by old school samples that feature horns on occasion. His songs create a laid back atmosphere that gets him attention without even trying – as if being the popular kid on the scene is the furthest thing from his mind even though his aura causes him to be just that.
Mazon will be delivering his lines at Union Transfer on November 14th along with Philly’s Ground Up. More information about the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Listen to Mazon announce his arrival on the hip-hop scene in “The Rise” below.
