What were some of your favorite/best songs of 2014? As we head towards the end of the year, that a question that a lot of folks will be answering. At WXPN, we’re asking you to help pick the Top 200 songs of 2014.

We asked some of our Philly local musician friends what their favorite songs of the year are, and to record versions of them. One of those musicians, singer and songwriter Eric Bazilian, a member of The Hooters and collaborator with many local musicians including David Uosikkinen’ In The Pocket, recorded a version of “Safe And Sound” by Capital Cities. Eric recently played at World Cafe Live, as part of WXPN and World Cafe Live’s 10th anniversary. Bazilian, all around super musician, went into his studio and recorded the Capital Cities hit song. Listen to it below.

Help us pick the best songs of 2014 for WXPN’s Year In Review here, and check back in the coming weeks for more local covers from Strand of Oaks, Kwesi K, Cookie Rabinowitz and more.
