For the past seven years, infectious New York folk / pop trio The Spring Standards have headed to Delaware over the holidays to headline packed houses at Arden Gild Hall. It’s a sort of homecoming for them – even though their career has been based in NYC, the bandmates grew up in Delaware and Southeastern PA, and each year they spend Boxing Day on the stage playing with their family and old friends in the crowd.

“It’s a great time to reconnect with our roots,” says singer and multi-instrumentalist Heather Robb. “That area will always be our true home.”

Last year, The Spring Standards released Live from Delaware – an album documenting their 2012 shows at Arden, and this year they’re releasing a companion concert film – with animated vignettes and other flourishes – at the Boxing Day Spectacular. Today, we’re excited to bring you a video premiere of “Nightmare,” a song performed during the set.

“We felt like it really captured the live excitement and energy of the show,” says Robb. “And we also love the animation, which will weave between all the songs and stitch the whole film together.”

As for the upcoming show, Robb says the sets is certainly festive but focused on their own music. “There is always some holiday specialness in the air of course but we don’t overdo it on the seasonal music front,” she says. “We figure most folks have probably gotten enough of that by the time the 26th rolls around! But we do very much channel the season – like the holidays, this night is all about being together and sharing beautiful things with the people you love. … We love the venue and it’s a wonderful time of year to bring people together and share our music with the community that’s supported us since the very beginning.”
