Listen to the new Modern Baseball song featured on Lame-O Records charity split
In less than nine hours, the records of the Lame-O Records charity split, Strength In Weakness, completely sold out. All of the proceeds from the split benefit United Cerebral Palsy. As part of the release, Philly’s Modern Baseball released their latest tongue twister of a song, “Alpha Kappa Fall Of Troy The Movie Part Deux.”
The Philadelphia pop punk four-piece sat down with Lame-O Records for an in-studio interview and discussed its relation to the Menzingers song, “Alpha Kappa Fall Off A Balcony.” The long-winding titled song, which also plays tribute to the movie “Troy.” It features heavier vocals from singer-guitarist Brendan Lukens, and there’s no shortage of MoBo’s striking lyricism with lines like “Laid out, wrapped right up in a metaphorical overpriced poncho.” Moving drum hits and powerful bass from Sean Huber provides a heavier feel contrasted with catchy, head-bobbing guitar work from Jake Ewald and Lukens.
Other bands featured on the six-way split are Philly MoBo pal’s, Marietta. The indie-emo rock guys re-recorded “Old Joe” from the 2013 The Big Show: Acoustic Sessions split they were featured on. West Chester pop punk trio Spraynard, power-poppers The Weaks, indie fuzz trio Hurry, and Beach Slang also appear on the split. The charity single comes out February 3 and Lame-O will be releasing tracks throughout January. The split can still be pre-ordered digitally on Lame-O Records’ Bandcamp.
