Former Philadelphians Slutever release a punk blast called “Smother”
A year ago, Rachel Gagliardi and Nicole Snyder of Slutever moved from Philly to the west coast to rock out in the warmer Cali climate. Today the band released “Smother,” a grungey track from their upcoming EP, Almost Famous, due out February 17. The two-piece blasts heavy distortion in this track that features heavier drum and guitar than we’ve heard from them in the past, but no shortage of their screamalong punk choruses.
The lyrics in this track showcases a direction the LA punkers may be going towards: “Hold my hand, carry me / and tell me everything’s fine / Smother me.” Gagliardi and Snyder play a catchy pop chorus with a heavier feeling that is infectious. Slutever heads out on a West coast tour starting Jan. 25; you can find details at their Facebook page pre-order Almost Famous on their Big Cartel site.
