Philly rapper Kuf Knotz is returning with a new album, A Positive Light on March 24th. It’s the rapper’s first new studio album in five years, and while he’s been sporadically performing in town, after his move to New York in 2012, he’s released only a couple new songs since 2010’s Boombox Logic.

Kuf has been part of the fabric of life at WXPN since his debut. He participates in Musicians On Call, and played the XPoNential Music Festival in 2011. A Positive Light continues to showcase Kuf’s positive energy, message, and upbeat positive vibes. One of the highlights of the album is “Get Free,” featuring The Lawsuits’ Brian Dale Allen Strouse, that you can download below. About the song, Kuf says:

“Get Free was inspired by a number of things. Originally it was written years ago as a song about being comfortable in my own skin. I was experiencing a time of doubt and questioning everything around me. It was a song to motivate me to just be and do whatever my heart was feeling and telling me to do. Over the years though, there were some changes and additions to the song – production wise and vocally. The song began to take on a new energy and have a new meaning. In light of recent unjust events, and our need for unity and justice in our communities, the song morphed into a freedom chant and motivation for our society to get up, get out, and do something!”

Kuf celebrates the release of his new album at a record release party at Frankie Bradley’s on Saturday, March 28th. He plays Sellersville Theater on Sunday, March 29th.
