Free at Noon Flashback: Houndmouth plays a mesmerizing set at World Cafe Live
Indiana-bred southern rockers Houndmouth put on an amazing set at today’s Free at Noon, leaving the audience mesmerized. The band’s new album, Little Neon Limelight, is due out next Tuesday, and their setlist featured songs from the new records such as “Black Gold,” “Sedona” and the funny “My Cousin Greg,” all from the new album.
After the broadcast ended, the crowd cheered for an encore, surprising the band – who wasn’t even expecting much of an audience, nonetheless a packed house in front of them. In fact, keyboardist/guitarist Katie Toupin – who, by the way, garnered the greatest applause in the show after she performed a breath-taking version of “Gasoline” from the new album – admitted she usually “wears different clothes” for concerts, and that she felt a bit under dressed for the performance. For the encore, the band played a fantastic version of Dion’s “Runaround Sue” – check it out in the video below.
The show was a pretty good segway for Blackberry Smoke, another fantastic southern rock band who joins us for next Friday’s Free at Noon on March 20th. In the meantime, grab your tickets to see Houndmouth at the Union Transfer on April 4th; more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
