Folkadelphia Session: Steve Gunn
You knew it was coming, we prepared you for this moment. At the end of 2014, we pulled together a collection of some of our favorite in-studio sessions for our 2nd Folkadelphia Sessions compilation. We also previewed what was to come in 2015. That’s when you got your first taste of this week’s brand new session from Steve Gunn‘s visit to our studio. Today you hear the full thing.
Steve Gunn has serious momentum going on right now. He just signed to Matador Records for his next release, he recently collaborated with traditionalists The Black Twig Pickers (their second collaboration actually), and his 2014 full-length Way Out Weather has established Gunn as a strong band leader and songwriter. That’s all on top of frequent accolades of being one of the most imaginative, boundary-pushing, and exciting guitar pickers around. We strongly agree and cannot wait to hear what’s next for Gunn and co.
Back in October ’14, Gunn visited the WXPN Performance Studio with his group – James Elkington (guitar/pedal steel), Jason Meahger (bass), and Nathan Bowles (drums). Fresh off the release of Way Out Weather, Gunn is performing on all cylinders. Listen here:
