Leon Bridges captivates with “River”
Becoming a fresh face to the gospel music scene, Leon Bridges has moved audiences with his soulful hymns and rhythms. “Coming Home” may be his biggest hit to date, but Bridges’ new single “River” shows just as much promise.
Amongst his four released tracks from the Coming Home LP, out June 23rd on Columbia Records, this ones seems the most poignant and powerful. With just a soft tambourine and guitar setting the stage, a man seeking redemption pleads to his significant other “I want to give you every part of me, but my lips are unclean”. Fighting demons and singing about it beautifully, the road Bridges takes on “River” is one of uncertainty and angst.
With the tracklist spelled out on the cover of the new album, we notice that this single is the final song, leaving question to why exactly this is the conclusion Bridges went with. While we wonder about this, we can catch Leon Bridges at Ortlieb’s on May 15, ticket details can be found here. Check out the single “River” below.
