Recap: Brandi Carlile plays an emotional Free at Noon set at NonCOMM
“You made me cry at quarter to one in the afternoon,” an audience member said as Brandi Carlile finished singing “Beginning To Feel The Years” at NonCOMM today. Looking around the room, it seemed there were many not-dry eyes in the house, Carlile’s included. “I made myself cry! It’s so hard to be away from my little daughter, she’s about to be one and her mama sent me a video of her walking.”
There was a lot of emotion in the room as Carlile played a short set of songs from her 2015 LP The Firewatcher’s Daughter with her bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth. “We’re a band and we have been for years,” Carlile said. “We just happen to have some chick’s name.”
To hammer that home, they closed with a moving rendition of “The Eye” which, as Carlile says, is “a song without a lead singer.” Listen to her performance and check out a gallery of photos from the set below.
