Recap: Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear delighted the crowd at NonCOMM
Sibling bandmates are often hailed as greats in the music world, but what about a mother-son duo? Madisen Ward and his mother, Ruth, (better known as “the Mama Bear”) performed a warmhearted, down-to-earth set for NonCOMM 2015.
The duo has found themselves in the spotlight faster than you can say Independence, Missouri (which is where they’re from). They both picked up the guitar at the same age, and started out in coffeehouses. They would each do sets individually, with the other providing backup vocals or lead guitar. They then realized they were meant to play together. Before they knew it, they were on Letterman. They just wrapped up a European tour and are now stateside, about to release their debut album Skeleton Crew.
Tonight’s set included some tracks off that album, including the haunting “Dead Daffodils” and the fan favorite, “Silent Movies”. Check out photos from Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear’s set below.
