He left Philly for Los Angeles back in the fall, but singer-songwriter Kwesi K is back this week for a short stay. He appeared on the air on WXPN last night, chatting with Dan Reed about his new digs and finding himself immersed in the professional songwriting community of LA. “I like being in a room where I’m the worst writer there,” he says. “It’s a nice challenge.”

He also performed a cover song for the weekly Copy That segment – his rendition of “Ordinary People” by John Legend – and talked about the gigs he’ll be playing while he’s in town. On Friday evening, he plays a free acoustic duo show at the Sellersville Theater, and then trucks it down to Manayunk for a full band set at the Dawson Street Pub. More information can be found here; below, listen to “Ordinary People,” followed by an archive of his entire interview and performance.
