The next Zydeco Crossroads event is on Friday, June 26th with Nathan & The Zydeco Cha-Chas and dance instructor Harold Guillory from Lake Charles, Louisiana. The free event will be held at Penns Landing Caterers.

Zydeco Crossroads is a year-long celebration of Zydeco music with a series of live concerts, dances, radio specials, and a web site that captures the history and essence of the Louisiana music. Influenced by Clifton Chenier and mentored by Buckwheat Zydeco, Nathan Williams is one of the world’s leading accordion players. Williams’ recent album, A New Road. For good reason, it’s been getting stellar reviews. Writing about it for No Depression, Grant Britt had this to say about it:

Nathan Williams never disappoints. On record and in person, you can always depend on Williams’ rockin’ Zydeco to lift your spirits and move your feet. For this outing on his own Cha Cha label, it’s a Williams convention, a multi-generational family affair from top to bottom. Even though he’s calling it a new road, Nathan Williams is still traveling on the same journey he’s always been on, motoring along in the finest vehicle in the fleet, putting out the best Zydeco in the business.

The event at Penns Landing Catering is free. Doors open at 7 p.m.; dance lessons begin at 7:30 p.m. and Williams will play two sets, starting at 8:30 p.m.
