Tame Impala set to play the Tower Theater in October
Tame Impala has just announced a Philly tour date in support of their upcoming third album, Currents. The Australian band is coming to the Tower Theater on October 5th, and tickets go on sale this Friday.
Currents, the band’s third release, has been described as frontman Kevin Parker’s best work yet. With him writing, performing, recording, producing, and mixing the entire album himself, the LP is a testament to Parker’s current state of affairs, and his experiences and feelings towards his life shine through in his lyrics, which are clearer and more direct than ever. Tame Impala’s unique blend of psych rock has been captivating fans since Parker’s initial demos in 2008, and the expansion of sound the band has experienced in the past seven years has kept fans around, with singles “Let It Happen” and “Cause I’m a Man” being the latest examples. The band’s first two albums were virtually universally accepted, and this album has the feel of expanding upon that success.
You can check out more information about the show on the XPN Concert Calendar, and you can pre-order Currents, which is slated for a July 17th release date, here. Need convincing? Check out the video for “Cause I’m a Man” below:
