Shelf Life releases “The Curse,” the first single from Everyone Make Happy
Scotty Leitch has been knocking around the local music scene for the better part of a decade, first in Pirouette, then Little Pirouettes (a joint venture with members of the defunct Little Kingdoms and Smoother) and now as Shelf Life. In this latest project, Leitch climbs out of an emo / alt-punk basement and into a country-soaked barrel of self-exploration and awareness.
“The Curse” is the first offering of Shelf Life’s forthcoming debut Everyone Make Happy, out in September on Lefse Records (current home of A Sunny Day in Glasgow, former home of Youth Lagoon). The acoustic guitar lopes steadily over bristly drums as Leitch confronts the death of a loved one, reaching perfection when the harmony comes in for the last line of each verse. Listen to the song below and stay tuned for more from the band this summer.
