Get ready to have your face melted yet again: Diarrhea Planet is returning to Philly!
The name is weird. Get over it and go see them.
Diarrhea Planet the epitome of the in-your-face, headbang-inducing, rock n’ fuckin’ roll band; possibly the most charismatic to hit the states in the last 20 or so years. Don’t believe us? Let our own John Vettese, who saw them firsthand, describe the experience for you:
The band does the tongue-sticky-outy thing, and the silly rockstar posturing: doing splits, pointing to the back of the room, cupping their ears in an “I can’t hear you” pose, flexing their arms with macho bravado. It’s done for the most part in jest (I think), making fun of rock and roll tropes, but it achieves the same effect among the devotees as it would were they, say, Iron Maiden playing a stadium in 1984.
Hailing straight outta Nashville, TN, Diarrhea Planet might just be your next musical phase, that rocker within you that’s always wanted to Get the Led Out. They’ve released two albums already: the 2011 debut Loose Jewels and 2013’s buzzworthy effort I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams. So do your homework, get past the silly names, and just let loose and have fun. That’s what Diarrhea Planet is all about. That’s what they want you to do.
You can get your dose of riffage and Beavis and Butthead vibes when Diarrhea Planet returns to Underground Arts on November 20th. Tickets go on sale July 24th at 12 p.m. You can get them here!
In the meantime, check out their KEXP live session below to get a sense of the energy!
