Ars Nova Workshop presents New York composer John Zorn and his latest project, Simulacrum, at Johnny Brenda’s on November 11th. The trio features John Medeski on organ, Matt Hollenberg on guitar and Kenny Grohowski on drums with Zorn conducting.

The group will be releasing its second record The True Discoveries of Witches and Demons later this month. Described as “the most extreme organ trio ever,” Simulacrum draws upon its members varied musical backgrounds to create a deep experience of metal, rock, jazz, noise and more. But where other prog-noise groups would keep an mostly improvisational flow to their performances, Simulacrum benefits from Zorn’s multi-decade experience of avant-garde and cutting-edge composition.

Listen to “The Divine Comedy” from the group’s first record below, and pick up tickets for the 21+ show here.
