The folks over at Domino Records seem to be as excited as we are for the release of Philly do-it-yourself indie artist Alex G.’s first studio album, Beach Music. Over the weekend, they released the third single off the album, teasing fans even more for the album which will likely make Alex G. a much bigger name in the indie rock universe.

As we here at The Key noted when reporting the first two singles off of Beach Music, “Salt” and “Bug”, this album is Alex G.’s first polished record after having released a whopping six self-recorded LP’s. During this time of DIY prolificacy, Alex G. has made substantial waves in the music world which will often overlook the kind of lo-fi records he has produced. Favorable reviews from everywhere from Pitchfork to Rolling Stone Magazine have made Alex G. an act to watch in the coming years.

The newest output, “Kicker” — which you can check out below — continues to build upon the sound that Alex G. has made decidedly his own over recent years. The track features much of the same reverb and busy instrumentation as previous tracks, the while holding onto a melody that you can’t help but latch onto.

Beach Music will be out on Domino Records October 9 and Alex G. is playing First Unitarian Church on November 14; tickets and more information on the show can be found over at the XPN Concert Calendar. Check out the new song and album art below.
