Listen to the Fall 2015 sampler from Third Floor Tapes
Third Floor Tapes, a Philly cassette label, just put out their Fall 2015 sampler featuring eleven tracks by six different artists. In under a year and a half, Third Floor Tapes has put out sixteen releases on hand-made cassette tapes. The Fall 2015 sampler features Philly basement favorites Snoozer (now Pet) and blue smiley, as well as artists from other East Coast towns like Bread Pilot from Connecticut.
The sampler starts off with two light and airy tracks from Arthur Shea, which are followed by two lo-fi fuzz rock songs from Philly’s Cool Dad. RIP Stickers, the side project of Philly producer What Nerve, contributes a quick and crunchy distorted-synth track to the sampler. The next two punchy lo-fi tracks come courtesy of Snoozer‘s final album, “Life Sucks.” Bread Pilot and blue smiley contribute the final four songs on the sampler: the former supplying two riff-infused atmospheric tracks, and the latter closing the sampler with the instrument-driven “air.”
All-in-all, the sampler flows together nicely and provides a snapshot of the great emerging artists (and labels) of the current East Coast basement scene. Listen to it below.
