As the expression goes, everything old is new again, and Leon Bridges is a prime example of this fact. Bridges plays a decidedly old-school style of gospel and soul inspired rock and roll, one that has garnered him significant recognition after only his one album. Evidence of his growing popularity came this weekend when he was the musical guest on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Bridges performed two songs on the program, “Smooth Sailin'” and “River” — both of which you can check out below.

Bridges retro style is not confined to his record, as even his performing style emblematic of a desire to bring the past back to the limelight. You can catch Bridges perform at The Fillmore Philadelphia on Sunday, March 6  alongside local talent Son Little. For more information on the show go to the XPN Concert Calendar.
