Pickin’ up the change with Purples: Download “Believe” for free till they play Everybody Hits in 2016

Philly rockers Purples have a sweet, open-ended singles project going on at the moment. The deal of a lifetime is summed up in this milk carton-style Facebook ad: a new song every few weeks, and each song is free until the next one is released. We last heard from them in October ahead of their Electric Factory show opening for The Districts – a gig where, as you can see above, they were bathed in purple – now that a show at Everybody Hits is on their horizon, another song has emerged. Where the last song was an easy breezy midtempo pop tune for a lazy Sunday, this is a propulsive jammer that – between Peter MoDavis and Brian Ashby’s bright falsetto harmonies and Jonas Osterele’s swift beats – will carry you right into 2016.

We’ll stop short of calling it a party anthem since, as the band explains on Bandcamp, the song has a dark side:

Slightly scary song about believing in one’s self but being deceived by that belief. (and drinking booze in vans)
