Year-End Mania is the Key’s annual survey of the things below the surface that made 2015 incredible. Today, Key photographer Rachel Del Sordo travels down the electronic music rabbit hole of 2015.

Brandon Can’t Dance

The first time I saw Brandon Aryes step on stage, I had no idea what I was about to experience. With the vocal stylings of Morrissey and the synthesizers somewhere between disco and fuzz pop, Brandon Can’t Dance offers a musical experience completely different from most of the music coming out of the Philadelphia right now.

Doubles

I first found out about this band over a year ago when I saw them play a house show in West Philly playing under the unfortunate name O-Face. The band faded away for a while and have recently reemerged under the moniker Doubles. I have a feeling the are going to do great things in 2016.

Petal

Kiley Lotz has been playing music under the name Petal for little while, debuting in Scranton in 2013 with the Sport EP. She relocated to Philadelphia this year and released her first full length album, Shame, on Run For Cover Records. The album offers intoxicating indie pop tracks; be sure to give them a listen.

Friendship

We’ve talked a good bit about Maine transplants Friendship in 2015, but why not one more plug before the year is over?Friendship broken onto the Philadelphia music scene earlier this year when they mysteriously released their first EP on YouTube. They have since developed into one of the most promising indie folk bands in Philadelphia. Check out their haunting video for “He Said ‘You Seemed So Much In Luv.'”

Queen of Jeans

I’m jumping on this bandwagon hardcore. Queen of Jeans offer some of the most infectious pop punk I’ve heard in a while. If you haven’t checked them out yet, I suggest you do so right now.
