LiveConnections presents 20th century jazz with Joanna Pascale and Curtis 20/21
Entering its eighth year of bridging music and education with a focus on community involvement, LiveConnections will present its first event of the season at World Cafe Live on Friday, January 22nd. Local jazz vocalist Joanna Pascale will join Curtis Institute chamber ensemble Curtis 20/21 for a retrospective evening of jazz and classical music.
With a focus on curating diverse collaborations of artists that may not otherwise intersect, LiveConnections ensures a fresh, experimental take on traditional styles of music. This month’s concert is just that. Pascale and the Curtis Institute’s new ensemble will be reinterpreting songs by film composer Michel Legrand, legendary songwriters George Gershwin and Darius Milhaud, as well as giving the world premiere performance of a piece written by the Curtis Institute’s Gabriella Smith.
Tickets and more information for the all-ages concert can be found here. Listen to Pascale perform “Wildflower” from her latest album below, followed by songs written by the featured composers.
