OMG: Wilco and Richard Thompson are playing this summer at the Mann
Wilco at Solid Sound Festival | Photo by Noah Silvestry | silvestography.tumblr.comNow hear this, Wilco fans: Jeff Tweedy and the guys are returning to the region this summer for their first local show since the stealth-release of Star Wars last summer. They are headlining the Mann Center on June 4th.
The gig is also their first within Philly’s municipal boundaries – not counting their Philly-adjacent 2012 and 2013 appearances at XPNFest in Camden, NJ – since headlining the Electric Factory in 2010 on the Wilco (the album) tour. (Fun fact while I’m down that wormhole: the FIRST place Wilco played in Philly was the TLA on South Street in 1995 on the A.M. tour.)
Joining them is legendary British singer-songwriter Richard Thompson – a double bill they teased last night on Facebook.
Anyways, we’re obviously very excited about this gig and hope you are too. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon, and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
