If you’ve ever dreamed of being in a band, here’s your chance: registration for First Time’s the Charm, a concert that features musicians who have never been in a band before or who are playing a new instrument, opens on February 25th.

The festival was held for the first time in 2013 at PhilaMOCA, and it was a resounding success — a number of bands were formed that are still active in the Philly scene, including Littler, who just released a catchy new single “Slippery.”

One of the main goals of FTTC is to promote diversity in the Philly music scene as well. To that end, at least one member of each band must identify as female, queer, trans, and/or as a person of color.

This year, FTTC returns to the PhilaMOCA for the concert on June 3rd and 4th. In addition, there will be a series of workshops before the shows, which will help get the bands ready to perform and, according to FTTC, “demystify the songwriting and band formation for newcomers.” If this all didn’t sound enticing enough already, all proceeds from concert will be donated to Girls Rock Philly, a volunteer group that uses music to empower women in marginalized communities.

You can out more information about the registration process for First Time’s the Charm, as well as the concert itself, here.
