Ron Gallo shares new song “Put the Kids to Bed”
Ron Gallo shared a new song from his forthcoming Heavy Meta LP with Under the Radar magazine this week. “Put the Kids to Bed” is the second sampling from the album following last month’s video for “Young Lady, You’re Scaring Me.”
As we’ve learned recently, Gallo is big fan of the Stooges and that influence turns up again in this track. It’s a brash garage-pop song that feels like Gallo is letting out some deep-seeded frustration. You’ll still hear his country roots in the chorus, though.
About the lyrical content of the song, he tells Under the Radar:
[It’s about the] dark, unspoken side of domestication, stale love, lies, being a robot, playing a role, becoming a stranger to yourself and the person you are with are a few of the things covered in “Put the Kids to Bed.” Somewhere in there I find some odd humor in the heaviness and that’s the thread that ties together the whole record, Heavy Meta.
Listen to “Put the Kids to Bed” below; Heavy Meta comes out in April on Gallo’s American Diamond Recordings label.
